Sweets to Beat the Heat!

Its hot outside. I mean melt your skin from your body hot. 100+ temps for the last two weeks and this girl is melting. We live in a basement apartment, but there is no AC and when it's 80 degrees in your house, people tend to get a bit cranky.

So what's the solution? (Beyond sitting in the freezer?) Well in our household, we make something sweet to eat and sit in front of a fan and complain Scarlet O'Hara style. Since misery loves company, I'm going to share something with you. Oh not my hot house, or my crankiness...(I'm sure you've got plenty of your own in those departments) I'm going to share with you the delicious sweet heat reprieve we partook of this last weekend.

Homemade Biscuit Donuts {With Vanilla Glaze}

You will need:
1 can biscuits {use your favorite}
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
oil for frying

Open your biscuits and separate.
Get your oil in your deep fryer {or any kind of cookware} heated up and ready to go.

Grab a lid from a water bottle or something {we're real technical over here} and punch out holes in your biscuits.

Place donuts two at a time {
or however you can fit them in your skillet} and fry on one side for 2 minutes.

Watch this carefully because sometimes the times can vary. When one side is browned flip it over and cook on the other side for two minutes until brown.

While your donuts are cooking, combine the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla in a small bowl until thin and glaze-like.

Remove donuts from fryer and drain on paper towels. Go ahead and dunk the donuts holes in there to get them nice and golden, and do the same with them.

Drizzle glaze over the still warm donuts while they're on the paper towels. This lets the glaze soak into the donuts and make it nice and smooth.

Serve with a tall glass of milk, or coffee!

Enjoy!!!
